Minecraft is getting a story-driven game from the studio behind The Walking Dead
"It will be a cool game."
Telltale, which also developed The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, says the game's story will be "inspired by the Minecraft community." It may seem like a strange spin-off for a largely narrative-free game, but then again, a Minecraft movie is also in the works. There are few real details about the game, but it's being built in partnership with Minecraft creator Mojang, which was acquired by Microsoft for $2.5 billion back in September. "We're not intending on creating an 'official' story for Steve, or explaining the world of Minecraft in detail," says Mojang. "It will be a cool game."
Story Mode will be coming to unspecified "consoles, computers, and mobile devices" sometime next year.
